Great news for everyone in the AUST community!
We are thrilled to announce that the panel members of the IEOM Society AUST Student Chapter recently had the golden opportunity to step outside the classroom and onto the factory floor. We conducted an exclusive industrial visit to the Fair Technology-Hyundai facility located at the Bangabandhu Hi-Tech Park in Kaliakoir, Gazipur.
It was an incredible day of practical learning, bridging the gap between theoretical Industrial Engineering concepts and real-world automotive manufacturing.
Our Delegation and Guides
This insightful journey was made even more special by the presence of our honorable faculty members from the MPE department, who joined us for the visit:
Mr. Aquib Rahman
Ms. Prattusha Bhattacharjee
Mr. A.I.M Johurul Islam
A massive thank you goes out to Mr. Hasin Md. Muhtasim Taqi for his invaluable assistance in guiding us and helping accomplish this visit to Fair Technology.
We also want to express our deep gratitude to Mr. Raja Gopal TD, Quality Head and Senior Manager (bringing 3 years of experience from Hyundai India as Manager of Dispatch Operation), for expertly guiding us throughout the facility. Additionally, it was wonderful to see AUST alumni Mr. Utshob Sarkar, Junior Executive Officer, being a part of this operation!
Exploring the Manufacturing Process
The Fair Technology facility is a state-of-the-art automotive assembly plant. During our tour, we gained firsthand exposure to the CKD (Completely Knocked Down) assembly process.
We witnessed exactly how a streamlined manufacturing system operates at scale. The tour covered several critical stations, including:
The core assembly line
Advanced Quality Control (QC) protocols
The Paint Booth and meticulous Paint Testing methodologies
Warehousing of parts and the final Yard management
The Cars and the Quality Checks
Currently, three impressive Hyundai models are assembled at this specific plant: the Hyundai Grand Creta, the Hyundai Tucson, and the Hyundai Creta.
Beyond just putting the cars together, we got to observe the rigorous testing that ensures every vehicle meets global standards. Our panel watched the denting process, the precise application of sealants, and checks for interior sound levels. We also saw fascinating technological calibrations, including performance testing, camera calibration, headlight beam angle calibration, and wheel alignment, culminating in a live test drive of the Hyundai Creta!
Opportunities like this are what the IEOM Society is all about—bringing real-life industrial exposure directly to our members. Keep your eyes on our page to find yourself engaged with more exciting opportunities in the future!
